真言宗の教え
真言宗は、弘法大師空海が平安時代に大成した真言密教の教えを教義としています。
真言密教では、仏の真実の言葉である「真言」を通じて、
この宇宙における様々な事象の本当の意味を知ることができるとされています。
Shingon Buddhism is based on the teachings of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism,
which was established by Kobo Daishi Kukai during the Heian period.
In Shingon Esoteric Buddhism, it is believed that through “mantras,”
the true words of the Buddha, one can understand the deeper meaning of various phenomena in the universe.
空 海Kukai
弘法大師は774年に讃岐の国でお生まれになりました。勉学で優れた実績を残されながらも仏門に入り、31歳で唐に留学。恵果阿闍梨から真言密教の全てを伝授されて帰国しました。その後は、修行道場としての高野山、庶民向けの学校である綜芸種智院などを開かれ、人々の救済を主眼に活動を続けられました。835年、高野山奥之院の御廟に御入定され、今も人々のことを見守り続けています。
Kobo Daishi was born in 774 in the province of Sanuki. While achieving outstanding academic success, he chose to enter the Buddhist path and traveled to Tang China at the age of 31. There, he received the full transmission of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism from Master Huiguo and returned to Japan.
After his return, he established Mount Koya as a training ground for monks and founded Shugei Shuchi-in, a school for the common people, dedicating his life to the salvation of others.
In 835, he entered eternal meditation (nyūjō) at Okunoin on Mount Koya, where he is believed to continue watching over people to this day.
大日如来Dainichi Nyorai
真言宗では大日如来を宇宙の中心的な存在と見なし、あらゆる仏や菩薩が大日如来から現れたと考えます。そのため、大日如来はすべての存在を包み込む慈悲と知恵の象徴とされます。「大日」は「大いなる太陽」を意味し、これは宇宙全体に照らす真理や悟りを象徴しています。
In Shingon Buddhism, Dainichi Nyorai (Mahavairocana Buddha) is regarded as the central figure of the universe, from whom all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are manifested.
For this reason, Dainichi Nyorai is considered a symbol of all-encompassing compassion and wisdom. The name “Dainichi” means “Great Sun”, representing the ultimate truth and enlightenment that illuminates the entire universe.
曼荼羅Mandala
曼荼羅は、宇宙観や宗教的な世界観を象徴的に表現した絵画です。曼荼羅の構造は秩序と調和を象徴し、個々の存在が全体とつながる様子を示しています。特に密教において重要な存在であり、「胎蔵界曼荼羅」や「金剛界曼荼羅」では中心に大日如来が描かれ、大日如来を中心に諸仏や菩薩が配置されています。
A mandala is a symbolic painting that represents a cosmic or religious worldview. Its structure embodies order and harmony, illustrating how individual beings are interconnected with the greater whole.
Mandalas hold great significance in Esoteric Buddhism, particularly in the Taizokai Mandala (Womb Realm Mandala) and Kongokai Mandala (Diamond Realm Mandala), where Dainichi Nyorai is depicted at the center, surrounded by various Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
